Safety Contract

  • If a suicidal person will not contract with you to keep himself/herself safe
    GET HELP! YOU ARE NOT ALONE – CALL 911
  • If a suicidal person will contract with you to keep themselves safe, the suicidal person must agree to:
    1. No self harm – he/she must indicate how long he/she can keep safe
    2. No or limited use of alcohol or drugs – these lead to poor judgement and decrease inhibitions
    3. A back-up safety plan – in case he/she are unable to follow through with the contract
    4. A link to professional help or other resource
  • If for any reason you do not feel the suicidal person will follow through with the safety contract
